In the spirit of Salons invented by pioneering women like Catherine de Vivonne, Marquise de Rambouillet, Gertrude Stein and Natalie Barney, we're going to be holding space to gather and let the evening take us down interesting roads and conversations.

About the event
Salons have taken on different forms over the centuries... The first were started by women during the French Enlightenment in the 17th and 18th centuries. Women like Catherine de Vivonne and Marquise de Rambouillet were fed up with male dominated royal courts and thus created spaces in their homes where elite women and men could gather on equal footing to debate philosphy, poetry and science. Barred from universities and political office, this is where women created their own cultural authority. These women created safe space for radical thinkers and witty minds to exlore ideas and start revolutions. Then came the 1920's... Paris... when salons became more bohemian and "radical", fueled by American and European expats like Gertrude Stein and her partner, Alice B. Toklas and Natalie Barney. These events were raw, avante-garde hubs for innovation. Each woman's salon had it's own unique flavor, none the same, all incredibly powerful nonetheless.…
